What makes an AI product manager different from a normal PM?
Non-determinism. A traditional feature either works or is a bug; a model-backed feature is right most of the time, and the product decision is what to do about the rest. That changes specs, QA, support and pricing — an AI PM has opinions about all four.
Does an AI product manager need to be technical?
They need to be literate, not an engineer. Enough to reason about context, retrieval, latency and cost, and to argue with an engineer about an evaluation. Deep model knowledge is rarely the constraint; judgment about what to ship is.
